Flat line - 2008/12/17 20:10 I'm installed vispan on two different ubuntu servers (8.04 and 8.10). On 8.04 everything works, but on 8.10 Everything is flat (http://i42.tinypic.com/1427kw2.jpg) except the system load. I copied Vispan.conf from the working system, but it still shows flat. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

Re:Flat line - 2008/12/19 09:34 Firstly check the mail log file - is MailScanner/MTA logging all the information necessary to the log file?

If so you can edit the Vispan config file and at the end change the debug=0 to debug=1 and then run Vispan manually - it will produce output showing what it is doing.

Re:Flat line - 2008/12/19 14:31 This is the only output with debug=1

Code:

Scanner Name of 'clamav' 'ClamAV' Scanner Name of 'mailscanner' 'Mailscanner'

I've attached my config. The only thing I remember editing is the LogFile, to /var/log/mail.log

The MailScanner.conf has log spam = yes. Here's a snippet of cat /var/log/mail.log | grep MailScanner
Code:

Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: New BatchScanning 1 messages31392 bytes Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Spam ChecksStarting Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Expired 1 records from the SpamAssassin cache Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Whitelist refresh time reached Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Starting up SQL Whitelist Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Read 67 whitelist entries Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Blacklist refresh time reached Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Starting up SQL Blacklist Dec 19 06:26:43 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Read 17 blacklist entries Dec 19 06:26:46 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Virus and Content ScanningStarting Dec 19 06:26:46 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: WARNINGIgnoring deprecated option --unrar Dec 19 06:26:51 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Content ChecksDetected and have disarmed web bugformform input tags in HTML message in 2C38D11885.2BE10 from communitynews@hsn-email.com Dec 19 06:26:52 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Requeue2C38D11885.2BE10 to 1FB1A118C0 Dec 19 06:26:52 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: UninfectedDelivered 1 messages Dec 19 06:26:52 lmigw MailScanner[11812]: Logging message 2C38D11885.2BE10 to SQL Dec 19 06:26:52 lmigw MailScanner[13992]: 2C38D11885.2BE10Logged to MailWatch SQL

Re:Flat line - 2008/12/19 15:29 It appears that MailScanner is logging to SQL not the mail log file.

There are no MailScanner "scanning x messages" lines and also no lines with any spam detection in them.

Re:Flat line - 2008/12/19 15:53 I just went through and compared the working MailScanner.conf to the non-working and didn't see any difference (other than version). Is there a line that you know of in MailScanner.conf. My configurations are logging to SQL (MailWatch). Perhaps I overlooked a setting allowing me to log to both SQL and mail log?
